Risha is a small mountain resort in Choman, in the high country of the Kurdistan Region — canvas tents and stone villas set out on open meadow beside a mountain river, every door facing the peak.
Stays are all-inclusive: three meals a day, unlimited water and firewood, a wood stove inside and a fire pit outside every unit. In summer the air is often 10–15°C cooler than Erbil; in spring the waterfalls run full; in winter the ridge is white.
Both face the same ridge and both include everything below. The only real difference is how much wall stands between you and the weather.

The ridge starts at the edge of the meadow. Walks, 4x4 trips into the high country and guides are arranged on request; the fire pit and the night sky need no arranging at all.
Trails leave the meadow straight onto the slopes of Przhé, at whatever pace you keep.

Off-road drives into the high country, with a driver who knows the tracks.
Every unit has its own fire pit, and the firewood is unlimited.

Meltwater, full waterfalls and green slopes. Days are mild, nights still cold — the season for waterfall walks and Newroz.

Snow on the ridge, freezing nights and a stove going all day. Check the road with the resort before driving up.
For cool air, come between June and September, when Erbil is at its hottest. For waterfalls and wildflowers, April and May. For clear views and quiet weekends, October. For snow, January and February — with a 4x4 and a check on the road first.

The last stretch from the main road up to the resort is a mountain track. Most cars manage it in dry weather; after rain or snow, or in a low car, ask the resort to meet you with a 4x4 for the final climb.

About 160 km by road — roughly a 3-hour drive via Shaqlawa and Rawanduz. The resort can arrange 4x4 transport for the last mountain stretch.
Yes. The mountain air is often 10–15°C cooler than Erbil, and the nights are fresh even in July and August — bring a warm layer for the evenings.
